29/1/2020 Generous Donations from Switzerland...In a response to one of our Radball presentations, Radball Edmonton was approached by a multi cultural community back in spring of 2019. The community is showing interest in our unique sport and have asked if it would be feasible to organize and to start a Radball after school program for youths and young adults…
Radball Edmonton was honored and we accepted the exciting challenge. After a couple meetings, finding out more details and how many participants to expect, we realized that we did not have enough bikes to practice. In May 2019 we reached out to one of our Radball Facebook and Email Friends Dieter Schäffler with Radball Radfahrverein Wetzikon in Switzerland. When he heard about our news, Dieter immediately began the search for bike (Velo) donations and contacted several Swiss Radball clubs. The response was overwhelming. “Off course, we will support Edmonton in Canada. It’s for a good course…” was said. Dieter drove to two clubs, Radsportclub Gümlingen and Radsportverein Embrach, and collected the generous donations of 8 used Velos. After a busy summer and fall Wetzikon and Edmonton organized the transport of the Velos. Dismantled and put into two packages, generously wrapped in plastic foil… The journey began mid January 2020 from Wetzikon via Zürich, Amstderdam, Calgary and arrived at its destination in Edmonton on January 24th. Radball Edmonton would like to extend a heartfelt Dankeschön and appreciation to all who were involved in the generous Donations.
